It was also noted that a review of the Millennium Declaration would take place in 2010 and that, if the Commission conducted an examination of the contribution of the Programme of Action to development in 2009, it would be well positioned to make a timely contribution to the 2010 review by the General Assembly of the achievement of the goals set in the Millennium Declaration and the 2005 World Summit Outcome.

The Commission agreed that strengthening the competitiveness of domestic enterprises, particularly SMEs, is a vital element for developing countries to improve their ability to participate in international trade and to benefit from investment opportunities so as to achieve the internationally agreed development goals of the Millennium Declaration.
2- واتفقت اللجنة على أن تعزيز القدرة التنافسية في مشاريع الأعمال المحلية، ولا سيما المشاريع الصغيرة والمتوسطة الحجم، عنصر حيوي بالنسبة للبلدان النامية كي تتمكن من تحسين قدرتها على المشاركة في التجارة الدولية والاستفادة من فرص الاستثمار بحيث تتمكن من بلوغ الأهداف المتفق عليها دولياً وهي الأهداف الإنمائية للإعلان بشأن الألفية.

On the programme side, the main focus was on organizing and coordinating the contribution of the United Nations system to the high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly to be held in September and the preparation of a system-wide report on the overall response by the system to the Millennium Declaration.
