9.1. The operational activities segment, within its role of providing overall coordination and guidance to the United Nations development system, may, in addition to the segment functions identified in General Assembly resolution 48/162, also consider themes related to the follow-up to major international conferences.

The present note of the Secretariat is intended to facilitate the Council's consideration, at the high-level meeting of the operational activities segment, of strengthening collaboration between the United Nations development system and the Bretton Woods institutions in the area of social and economic development at all levels, including the field level.

At the present session, the high-level meeting of the operational activities segment is devoted to strengthened cooperation between the Bretton Woods institutions and the United Nations development system, in accordance with Economic and Social Council resolution 1995/50, paragraph 6, and General Assembly resolution 50/120, paragraph 48.

By its resolution 1995/50 of 28 July 1995, the Council decided that in 1996 the high-level meeting of the operational activities segment should focus on strengthening collaboration between the United Nations development system and the Bretton Woods institutions in the areas of social and economic development, at all levels, including the field level.
وقد قرر المجلس، في قراره ١٩٩٥/٥٠ المؤرخ ٢٨ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٥، أن يركﱢز الاجتماع الرفيع المستوى للجزء المتعلق باﻷنشطة التنفيذية في عام ١٩٩٦ على تعزيز التعاون بين جهاز اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹنمائي ومؤسسات بريتون وودز في مجالات التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية على جميع الصعد، بما فيها الصعيد الميداني. ـ

The Council, in accordance with its resolution 1994/33 on the operational activities segment of the Economic and Social Council, will consider a principal theme or themes for consideration at the high-level meeting of the operational activities segment of the substantive session of 1997.
وسينظر المجلس، وفقا لقراره ١٩٩٤/٣٣ بشأن الجزء المتعلق باﻷنشطة التنفيذية من المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي، في موضوع رئيسي أو مواضيع رئيسية لكي ينظر فيها في الاجتماع الرفيع المستوى للجزء المتعلق باﻷنشطة التنفيذية من دورته الموضوعية لعام ١٩٩٧.

By its decision 1994/293, the Council decided that the high-level meeting of the operational activities segment of its substantive session of 1995 would consider as a principal theme the implementation of the programme of action adopted by the International Conference on Population and Development.

6. Decides that in 1996 the high-level meeting of the operational activities segment should focus on strengthening collaboration between the United Nations development system and the Bretton Woods institutions in the areas of social and economic development, at all levels, including the field level;

(a) That the high-level meeting of the operational activities segment of its substantive session of 1995 would consider as a principal theme the implementation of the programme of action adopted by the International Conference on Population and Development;

At the 47th meeting, on 28 July, the President of the Council introduced a draft decision (E/1994/L.40) entitled " High-level meeting of the 1995 operational activities segment of the Economic and Social Council " submitted on the basis of informal consultations.
