These events highlight the critical need for the ongoing support to the Government for Iraq on the creation of a disaster risk reduction framework.
وتبرز هذه الأحداث إلحاح الحاجة إلى مواصلة الدعم المقدم لحكومة العراق فيما يتعلق بإنشاء إطار للحدّ من مخاطر الكوارث.

Proposals for the following two draft articles were made in the report: draft articles 5 ter (Cooperation for disaster risk reduction) and 16 (Duty to prevent).

In addition, the staff of UN-SPIDER and the Disaster Management Center organized a one-day workshop for more than 90 representatives from various Government institutions, United Nations agencies and academia to discuss cross-cutting issues related to use of geospatial and space-based information for disaster risk reduction and emergency response.

In September 2012, at the request of the Government of Solomon Islands, through its National Disaster Management Office, UN-SPIDER carried out a technical advisory mission to evaluate the current and potential use of space-based information in all aspects of disaster management and to strengthen disaster risk management in the country by providing better access to space-based information for disaster risk reduction and response.
24- وفي أيلول/سبتمبر 2012، وبناءً على طلب قدمته حكومة جزر سليمان من خلال مكتبها الوطني لإدارة الكوارث، أوفد البرنامج بعثة استشارية تقنية لتقييم الاستخدام الحالي والممكن للمعلومات الفضائية في جميع جوانب إدارة الكوارث وتعزيز إدارة مخاطر الكوارث في ذلك البلد بتحسين سُبل الوصول إلى المعلومات الفضائية للحدّ من مخاطر الكوارث والتصدي للكوارث.

In addition, UN-SPIDER and the National Civil Protection Service, together with UNDP, organized a one-day workshop on 2 August 2012 bringing together more than 45 representatives from various government and United Nations agencies and educational institutions of the country to discuss cross-cutting issues related to the use of geographic and space-based information for disaster risk reduction and emergency response.

The Second Arab Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction was held from 14 to 16 September 2014 at Sharm El Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt under the patronage of H.E. the Egyptian Prime Minister and was kindly hosted by the South Sinai Governorate in coordination with the Egyptian Information and Decision Support Centre and the League of Arab States.
