1. Proclaims 1994 as International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal;
١ - تعلن سنة ١٩٩٤ سنة دولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي؛

My delegation sponsored the draft resolutions on the proclamation of 1994 as International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal and on the Olympic Truce because we support the ideals underlying them.
وقـــد اشتــرك وفـــدي فــي تقديم مشروعي القرارين بشأن إعلان عام ١٩٩٤ السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي، وبشأن مراعاة الهدنة اﻷوليمبية، ﻷننا نؤيد المثل العليا التــي يرتكــزان عليهــا.

The first dimension is fully expressed in the declaration of 1994 as the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal on the occasion of the centenary of the modern Olympic Movement.
والبعد اﻷول معـــرب عنـــه تماما في إعلان سنة ١٩٩٤ السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي، بمناسبة مرور مائة عام على إنشاء الحركة اﻷوليمبية الحديثة.

Noting also that the preparation for the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal will not involve any financial implications for the United Nations or its Member States, nor will it require the setting up of any administrative structure,
وإذ تلاحظ أيضا أن الاستعداد للسنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي لن ينطوي على أي أثر مالي بالنسبة إلى اﻷمم المتحدة أو دولها اﻷعضاء، ولن يتطلب إنشاء أي هيكل إداري،

It is a fortunate coincidence that this debate is taking place in 1994, declared by the United Nations as the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal, in commemoration of the centenary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee.
ومن محاسن الصدف أن تدور هذه المناقشة في سنة ١٩٩٤ التي أعلنتها اﻷمم المتحدة السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي، احتفالا بذكرى مرور مائة عام على إنشاء اللجنة اﻷولمبية.

For this reason we are particularly pleased that in this International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal it is also a Spaniard, Juan Antonio Samaranch, who is presiding over the destiny of the Olympic Movement.
ولهذا السبب، يسرنا بشكل خاص أنه في هذه السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي يرأس اسباني أيضا، هو خوان أنطونيو سامارانش الحركة اﻷوليمبية.

The exhibition has been organized in connection with the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal and marks the 100th anniversary of the International Olympic Committee.
وقد نُظم المعرض في إطار السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي وهو يأتي احتفالا بالذكرى المائة لتأسيس اللجنة اﻷوليمبية الدولية.

At its forty-eighth session, the General Assembly considered this item for the first time and commemorated the centenary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by proclaiming 1994 as the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal.
لقد نظرت الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثامنة واﻷربعين في هذا البند ﻷول مرة، وأحيت ذكرى مرور مائة عام على إنشاء اللجنة اﻷولمبية الدولية بإعلان سنة ١٩٩٤ سنة دولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي.

Such cooperation between the United Nations and the international Olympic Movement was already evident with the proclamation of the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal and with the reaffirmation of the ancient tradition of the Olympic Truce.
ولقد تبدى هذا التعاون بين اﻷمم المتحدة والحركة اﻷولمبية الدولية بالفعل في عام ١٩٩٤ بإعلان السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي وبتأكيد تقليد الهدنة اﻷولمبية القديم مجددا.

I should like to conclude my statement by quoting the remarks of the Secretary-General, Mr. Boutros-Ghali, that were incorporated in the report of the International Olympic Committee on the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal last year:
وأود أن أختتم بياني بالاقتباس من ملاحظات اﻷمين العام، السيد بطرس بطرس غالى، التي أدرجت في تقرير اللجنة اﻷولمبية الدولية عن السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي في العام الماضي:

From this rostrum, allow me to repeat what the Secretary-General of the United Nations said in the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal.
ومن فوق هذه المنصة أرجو أن تسمحوا لي أن أكرر ما قاله اﻷمين العام لﻷمم المتحدة في السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي.

My country is therefore honoured today to join in sponsoring also the draft resolution entitled " International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal " .

Noting that the organization of the celebration for the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal at the national and international level will be coordinated by the International Olympic Committee, with the collaboration of the International Sports Federations and the national Olympic committees,
وإذ تلاحظ أن اللجنة اﻷوليمبية الدولية ستنسق، بالتعاون مع الاتحادات الرياضية الدولية واللجان اﻷوليمبية الوطنية، تنظيم الاحتفال بالسنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي على المستويين الوطني والدولي،

Recalling its resolution 48/10 of 25 October 1993, in which it commemorated the centenary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee by proclaiming 1994 as International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal,
إذ تشير إلى قرارها ٨٤/٠١ المؤرخ ٥٢ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ٣٩٩١، الذي احتفلت فيه بذكرى مرور مائة عام على إنشاء اللجنة اﻷوليمبية الدولية وذلك بإعلان سنة ٤٩٩١ السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي،

The youth of my country also calls on the glorious International Olympic Committee and States to place particular emphasis on education programmes for peace based on the recognized virtues of Sport and the Olympic Ideal, which have become the most reliable bastions of social interaction, tolerance and understanding among peoples.
ويدعو شباب بلدي أيضا اللجنة اﻷولمبية الدولية الموقرة وكل الدول إلى التشديد بشكل خاص على البرامج التعليمية للسلام القائم على الفضائل المعترف بها للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷولمبي، التي أصبحت أفضل حصن موثوق به للتفاعل الاجتماعي، والتسامح، والتفاهم فيما بين الشعوب.

At its forty-eighth session the General Assembly proclaimed 1994 the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal, thereby emphasizing its commitment to the principles and objectives the Olympic Movement has constantly upheld and disseminated — that is, the building of a peaceful and better world by educating the youth of the world through sport allied to culture.
لقد أعلنت الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثامنة واﻷربعين سنة ١٩٩٤ السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي مؤكدة بذلك على التزامها بالمبادئ واﻷهداف التي دأبت الحركة اﻷوليمبية دوما على رفع لوائها ونشرها، ألا وهي بناء عالم سلمي أفضل بتربية شباب العالم من خلال الرياضة المرتبطة بالثقافة.

To pay tribute to that organization, which is led and supported on a volunteer basis, the General Assembly at its forty-eighth session, in its resolution 48/10, proclaimed 1994 as the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal.
وإشادة بهذه المنظمة، التي تدار وتدعم على أساس طوعي، أعلنت الجمعية العامة، في دورتها الثامنة واﻷربعين بقرارها ٤٨/١٠ سنة ١٩٩٤ السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي.

At that same forty-eighth session, in 1993, the General Assembly, following the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, adopted resolution 48/10, in connection with the centenary of the International Olympic Committee, declaring 1994 the International Year of Sport and the Olympic Ideal.
وفي نفس هذه الدورة الثامنة واﻷربعين، عام ١٩٩٣، اتخذت الجمعية العامة، في أعقاب المؤتمر العام لمنظمة اﻷمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة، القرار ٤٨/١٠ المتعلق بالذكرى السنوية المائة لتأسيس اللجنة اﻷوليمبية الدولية، معلنة عام ١٩٩٤ السنة الدولية للرياضة والمثل اﻷعلى اﻷوليمبي.
