7. Germany welcomed the draft articles on the prevention of transboundary harm from hazardous activities. In principle, it supported the codification of the draft, as this could be a contribution to the further development of international environmental law.

With the report of the Task Force to be discussed by the General Assembly at its fifty-third session, it is quite clear that the Assembly should begin to play an important role in the overall development of international environmental law related to sustainable development from a more cross-sectoral and integrated perspective than has been the case so far.
