UNWTO proposed that the measurement of sustainable tourism be one of the main topics of the International Statistical Institute World Statistics Congress to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2015.

The proposal was then validated through various international forums, including the Fifth International Conference on Agricultural Statistics, the fifty-sixth session of the International Statistical Institute and a technical meeting with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.

22. The Committee organized two sessions on international statistics for decision-making at the fifty-ninth International Statistical Institute World Statistics Congress.
22 - نظمت اللجنة دورتين حول الاستفادة من الإحصاءات الدولية في اتخاذ القرارات، وذلك في إطار المؤتمر الإحصائي العالمي التاسع والخمسين للمعهد الإحصائي الدولي.

23. The fifty-ninth International Statistical Institute World Statistics Congress took place in Hong Kong, China, from 25 to 30 August.
23 - عُقد المؤتمر الإحصائي العالمي التاسع والخمسون للمعهد الإحصائي الدولي في هونغ كونغ بالصين خلال الفترة من 25 إلى 30 آب/أغسطس.

The Committee was of the view that there were two possible options for the launch of such a network: (a) as a committee of the International Statistical Institute with individual membership, as proposed in the paper; and (b) as a club with a corporate membership model, whose members by definition would be all those working in international organizations.
ورأت لجنة التنسيق أن ثمة خيارين محتملين بالنسبة للشروع في هذه الشبكة هما: (أ) أن تكون لجنة تابعة للمعهد الإحصائي الدولي ذات عضوية فردية، على النحو المقترح في الورقة؛ (ب) أن تكون ناديا ذا نموذج للعضوية المشتركة، يكون أعضاؤه حسب التعريف جميع من يعملون في المنظمات الدولية.

:: July-August 2011: a second round of consultations was conducted during the International Statistical Institute (ISI) satellite conference on statistical capacity-building in Krakow, Poland; the ISI 2011 Statistics Congress in Dublin; and the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities round table in Luxembourg.

Meetings with statisticians from the United Nations regional commissions (ECLAC and the Economic Commission for Europe), at Eurostat and in Qatar and Kigali, as well as participation in the meeting of the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities and the 58th World Statistics Congress of the International Statistical Institute.
