The analysis of progress in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and the remaining disparities both between and within countries has helped to increase the understanding of statisticians and policymakers of what is required for countries in this regard, and the analysis has also been used by the Asian Development Bank to raise internal and external funding for poverty reduction initiatives.
