٣٤ - ومع الاختتام الرسمي لعملية اﻷمم المتحدة في موزامبيق المخطط له أن يتم بحلول نهاية كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٥، سيلزم أن يبقى في موزامبيق، في العاصمة، في المقام اﻷول، عدد صغير من المدنيين القائمين بالسوقيات والتابعين لﻷمم المتحدة للتصدي لمجالس التحقيق التي لم يبت فيها والتخلص من الممتلكات والمعدات واﻷنشطة اﻷخرى الطويلة اﻷجل، لمدة شهر أو شهرين تقريبا.

As stated in the latest report of the Secretary-General, 1/ with the official closure of ONUMOZ at the end of January 1995, it will be necessary to retain in Mozambique, for approximately one to two months, a small number of United Nations civilian logisticians to deal with outstanding boards of inquiry, the disposition of property and equipment, and other activities, such as settlement of pending claims and of accounts payable and receivable.

This responsibility would include: (a) policy advice and action in regard to disciplinary matters following formal inquiry and investigation; (b) processing of honours and awards, including United Nations service medals; (c) notifications of military casualties, including associated correspondence and entitlements; (d) matters related to conditions of employment; and (e) conduct of routine reviews of military boards of inquiry.
