In June 2007 the Government presented a bill (Govt Bill 2006/07:124) to the Riksdag proposing to amend the Abortion Act to remove the requirement that a woman has to be a Swedish citizen or resident in Sweden to have an abortion or terminate a pregnancy. This requirement is not compatible with the case-law of the European Court of Justice concerning free movement.
