Significant United Nations resolutions have been adopted on the issue, most recently by the General Assembly which in resolution 61/174 expressed its concern at the continuing reports of grave violations including " unresolved questions of international concern relating to the abduction of foreigners in the form of enforced disappearance, which violates the human rights of the nationals of other sovereign countries " (para. 1 (b) (v)).
وقد اعتمدت الأمم المتحدة قرارات هامة في هذا الشأن، وأحدثها قرار الجمعية العامة 61/174 الذي أعربت فيه الجمعية العامة عن قلقها إزاء توالي التقارير التي تفيد بوقوع انتهاكات خطيرة بما في ذلك " المسائل المعلقة التي تشغل بال المجتمع الدولي والتي تتصل باختطاف الأجانب من خلال عمليات الاختفاء القسري الذي يشكل انتهاكاً لحقوق الإنسان لمواطني بلدان أخرى ذات سيادة " (الفقرة 1 (ب)`5`).
