The observance of the fiftieth anniversary served as a catalyst in pulling together the various agencies and elements of the United Nations in the field, enabling a team effort in which the United Nations system as a whole was the beneficiary.
وقد كان الاحتفال بالذكرى السنوية الخمسين عنصرا حافزا لاحتشاد مختلف الوكالات والعناصر التابعة لﻷمم المتحدة في الميدان معا، مما أتاح بذل مجهود جماعي كانت منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة ككل هي المستفيدة منه.

The decision was prompted by the need to project a unified image of the United Nations in the field, to broaden information activities to cover more fully such vital issues as development, to facilitate inter-agency coordination and avoid duplication and to save through the sharing of common services. To date, 18 information centres have been integrated with field offices of UNDP.
وقد انطلق القرار من الحاجة إلى طرح صورة موحدة لﻷمم المتحدة في الميدان وتوسيع أنشطتها اﻹعلامية وتسهيل التنسيق بين الوكالات وتفادي الازدواجية وتحقيق وفورات من خلال تقاسم الخدمات المشتركة وتم حتى اﻵن ادماج ١٨ من مراكز اﻹعلام مع المكاتب الميدانية لبرنامج اﻷمم المتحدة الانمائي.

However, Israel knows for a fact that the sources available to the United Nations " in the field " were United Nations agencies and representatives operating in the region that were employed to provide information.

The driving force behind integration was both one of concept (projecting a unified image of the United Nations in the field) and of cost-effectiveness (achieving savings through the sharing of staff, common services and, in some locations, common premises).
