The question of links between organized transnational crime and terrorist crimes was discussed in the context of the follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan against Organized Transnational Crime.

10. The Chairman drew the Committee’s attention to draft resolution A/C.3/52/L.4, entitled “follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan against Organized Transnational Crime”, and indicated that it had no programme budget implications.

14. Pursuant to the above-mentioned resolutions, the Regional Ministerial Workshop on the follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan against Organized Transnational Crime was convened at Buenos Aires from 27 to 30 November 1995.

51. The Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Division organized the second Regional Ministerial Workshop on the follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan against Organized Transnational Crime and on Action against Corruption for the African Region.

At the 36th meeting, on 21 July, the Council approved draft resolution I, entitled " follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan against Organized Transnational Crime " , recommended by the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (E/1997/30, chap. I, sect. A) for adoption by the General Assembly.

The CARICOM States had followed with interest the deliberations on the question of the elaboration of an international convention against organized transnational crime, and endorsed the related recommendations contained in the draft resolution entitled “follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan against Organized Transnational Crime” (A/C.3/52/L.4).

16. Following the Regional Ministerial Workshop held at Buenos Aires from 27 to 30 November 1995, the Centre organized two regional ministerial workshops on the follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan, for Africa and for Asia and the Pacific.

3. The following questions received particular attention at the session: organized transnational crime in the context of the follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan; action against corruption; elimination of violence against women; international cooperation in criminal matters; technical cooperation and advisory services; and the Tenth United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders.

2. His delegation attached great importance to strengthening the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme, including follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan against Organized Transnational Crime, because organized crime – including drugs, money-laundering and terrorism – had spread its operations around the globe and posed a threat to economic and political stability.

1. The General Assembly, in its resolution 52/85, on the follow-up to the Naples Political Declaration and Global Action Plan against Transnational Organized Crime, requested the Secretary-General to continue his work on the central repository established pursuant to Economic and Social Council resolution 1996/27 with a view to increasing, maintaining and updating the data and other information contained in the repository.
١ - طلبت الجمعية العامة إلى اﻷمين العام في قرارها ٥٢/٨٥ بشأن متابعة إعلان نابولي السياسي وخطة العمل العالمية لمكافحة الجريمة المنظمة عبر الحدود الوطنية ، أن يواصل ما يقوم به من عمل بشأن المجمع المركزي المنشأ عملا بقـرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي ١٩٩٦/٢٧ ، بغيـة زيـادة ما يحتوي عليه المجمع من البيانات وسائر المعلومات وصونها وتحديثها .
