The General Committee, in the light of recommendations submitted by the Committee on Conferences (A/52/340), recommends to the General Assembly, on the strict understanding that meetings would have to be accommodated within available facilities and services, that the following subsidiary organs should be authorized to meet during the main part of the fifty-first session:

The CHAIRMAN drew attention to a letter dated 6 September 1996 from the Chairman of the Committee on Conferences to the President of the General Assembly (A/51/337) informing him that the Committee had recommended, on the strict understanding that meetings would have to be accommodated within available facilities and services, that a number of subsidiary organs should be authorized to meet during the main part of the fifty-first session.
