The mandate given to last year's high-level task force was to consider obstacles and challenges to the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals in relation to the right to development, and social impact assessments in the areas of trade and development at the national and international levels.
وكانت الولاية المسندة إلى فرقة العمل المنشأة في العام الماضي تتمثل في النظر في العقبات والتحديات التي تعترض تنفيذ الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية فيما يتصل بالحق في التنمية، وإجراء تقييمات للأثر الاجتماعي في مجالات التجارة والتنمية على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي.

Mr. Kozul-Wright (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development ), moderator, said that the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) had a long history of carrying out analyses and providing policy recommendations in the areas of trade and development, finance, investment and sustainable development.

Pursuant to Commission resolution 2004/7, the task force considered the following issues: (a) obstacles and challenges to implementation of the Millennium Development Goals in relation to the right to development; and (b) social impact assessment in the areas of trade and development at the national and international level.
وعملا بقرار اللجنة 2004/7، نظرت فرقة العمل في القضايا التالية: (أ) العقبات والتحديات التي تعترض تنفيذ الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية فيما يتصل بالحق في التنمية؛ و(ب) إجراء تقييمات للأثر الاجتماعي في مجالات التجارة والتنمية على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي.

In 2004, when the task force was established, the Working Group decided that it should examine (a) the obstacles and challenges to the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals in relation to the right to development; (b) social impact assessments in the areas of trade and development at the national and international levels; and (c) best practices in the implementation of the right to development (E/CN.4/2004/23, para. 49).
