With the participation of 20 countries in three regions (South-East Asia, East and Southern Africa and Central America and the Caribbean), the project on Building Capacity for Improved Policy Making and Negotiation on Key trade and environment Issues is the largest trade and environment technical assistance project currently being implemented by UNCTAD.

With a view to helping developing countries and countries in transition participate effectively in the post-Doha work programme, the secretariat recognizes the need for, and value of, continued cooperation with other organizations, particularly the WTO and UNEP, in the development and implementation of future technical assistance activities in the area of trade and environment.
