1. The purpose of the report prepared by the Joint Inspection Unit is to seek to enhance the relevance and improve the effectiveness of the United Nations University, (UNU), which was established in 1973 by the United Nations General Assembly as an international community of scholars addressing pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare through research, postgraduate training and dissemination of knowledge.
١ - الغرض من التقرير الذي أعدته وحدة التفتيش المشتركة هو السعي إلى تعزيز أهمية جامعة اﻷمم المتحدة وتحسين فعالية تلك الجامعة، التي أنشأتها الجمعية العامة لﻷمم المتحدة في عام ١٩٧٣ لتكون مجتمعا دوليا من الباحثين يعالج المشاكل العالمية الملحة المتعلقة ببقاء البشرية ونمائها ورفاهها عن طريق البحث والتدريب العالي ونشر المعرفة.

3. UNU functions as " an international community of scholars, engaged in research, post-graduate training and dissemination of knowledge in furtherance of the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations " (UNU Charter, article I.1), and undertakes " research into the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare " (UNU Charter, article I.2).
3 - تعمل جامعة الأمم المتحدة بوصفها ' ' مجتمعا دوليا من العلماء المشاركين في البحث، والتدريب بعد التخرج من الجامعة/ونشر المعرفة لتعزيز مقاصد ومبادئ ميثاق الأمم المتحدة`` (ميثاق جامعة الأمم المتحدة، المادة الأولى-1)، وتتولى ' ' البحث في المشاكل العالمية الملحة المتعلقة ببقاء البشرية وإنمائها ورفاهها`` (ميثاق جامعة الأمم المتحدة، المادة الأولى-2).

UNU was established by the General Assembly in December 1972 as an international community of scholars engaged in research, capacity-building and the dissemination of knowledge in furtherance of the purpose and principles of the Charter of the United Nations. (The Charter of the University was adopted by the General Assembly on 6 December 1973, in resolution 3081 (XXVIII).)
أنشئت جامعة الأمم المتحدة بموجب قرار الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1972 بوصفها مجتمعا دوليا من الباحثين المشتغلين بالبحث وبناء القدرات ونشر المعرفة دعما لمقاصد ميثاق الأمم المتحدة ومبادئه.
