Thus, the Saami Council cannot see how the United Nations can fulfil its obligations towards indigenous peoples without establishing a political forum, with a mandate that embraces the full range of issues of concern to indigenous peoples as well as coordination of all United Nations activities relevant to the concerns of indigenous peoples.
