This meeting was held in July in cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Forum and the Hong Kong Equal Opportunity Commission.

In 1996, Australia had hosted the first Asia-Pacific Workshop of National Human Rights Institutions, at which the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions had been established.
وفي عام ١٩٩٦ استضافت استراليا أول حلقة عمل لمؤسسات حقوق اﻹنسان في منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ، وفي تلك الحلقة أنشئ محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ للمؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق اﻹنسان.

Of the seven national institutions from the region which are members of the AsiaPacific Forum, four participated in the workshop, together with a representative of the AsiaPacific Forum.
وشارك أربع من المؤسسات الوطنية السبع في المنطقة الأعضاء في محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ في حلقة العمل وممثل عن محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ.

The workshop brought together representatives from six national human rights commissions belonging to the Asia-Pacific Forum: those of Australia, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Sri Lanka.
وضمﱠت حلقة التدارس ممثلين لست لجان وطنية لحقوق اﻹنسان تنتمي إلى محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ وهي: لجان استراليا والهند واندونيسيا ونيوزيلندا والفلبين وسري لانكا.

Support the work of the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions.

It was emphasized that the Asia-Pacific Forum and OHCHR were important partners and facilitators for securing the sustained success of existing NHRIs and in facilitating the creation of new ones.
وجاء التركيز على أن محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ ومفوضية الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان هما شريكان هامان ومُيَسِّران لضمان مواصلة نجاح المؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان وتيسير إنشاء مؤسسات جديدة.

The significance of the work of both the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions and OHCHR was particularly highlighted in this regard.
وتم في هذا الصدد تسليط الضوء بصورة خاصة على أهمية عمل محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ للمؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان من جهة ومفوضية الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان من الجهة الأخرى.

It was also agreed to support two national institution workshops to be organized by the Asia-Pacific Forum during 1999 (one in Sri Lanka and one in the Philippines).
واتُّفق أيضا على دعم حلقتي عمل بشأن المؤسسات الوطنية يقوم بتنظيمهما محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ في عام 1999 (إحداهما في سري لانكا والأخرى في الفلبين).

One example of these initiatives was a workshop organized by the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions, the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission and the Asia-Pacific Consultative Group of NGOs, with the support of OHCHR.
ومن الأمثلة على هذه المبادرات حلقة العمل التي نظمها محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ للمؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان، ولجنة سري لانكا لحقوق الإنسان، والفريق الاستشاري لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ للمنظمات غير الحكومية، بدعم من مكتب المفوضة السامية.

24. Welcome efforts to encourage and assist national human rights institutions which are not yet members of the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions to become so;
24- يرحبون بالجهود الرامية إلى تشجيع ومساعدة المؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان التي لم تنضم بعد إلى محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ للمؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان على القيام بذلك؛

Support the annual meetings of the AsiaPacific Forum of National Institutions with a view to sharing best practices, and request the Forum to report to the annual regional workshop;
دعم الاجتماعات السنوية التي يعقدها محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ للمؤسسات الوطنية بغية تبادل أفضل الممارسات، ودعوة المحفل إلى تقديم تقرير إلى حلقة العمل الإقليمية السنوية؛

14. Welcomes the establishment of independent national institutions in countries of the Asian and Pacific region and their important contribution to the process of regional cooperation, inter alia through the work of the AsiaPacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions, and notes the discussions at the relevant workshop in this regard;
14- ترحب بإنشاء مؤسسات وطنية مستقلة في بلدان منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ، كما ترحب بإسهامها الهام في عملية التعاون الإقليمي بطرائق شتى منها أعمال محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ لمؤسسات حقوق الإنسان الوطنية، وتحيط علماً بالمناقشات التي دارت في هذا الصدد في حلقة العمل ذات الصلة؛

31. A workshop also took place in Melbourne, Australia, in October 2001, organized by the AsiaPacific Forum in collaboration with OHCHR and UNAIDS, on the role of national human rights institutions in the Asian-Pacific region.
31- كما عقدت في ملبورن بأستراليا في تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2001 حلقة عمل، نظمها محفل آسيا والمحيط الهادئ بالتعاون مع مفوضية الأمم المتحدة السامية لحقوق الإنسان وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة المعني بفيروس نقص المناعة البشري/الإيدز، بشأن دور المؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان في منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ.
