In its concluding observations on the United Republic of Tanzania adopted in August 2009, the Committee expressed concerns that the State party did not recognize the existence of indigenous peoples and minorities in its territory and that, according to reports, the traditional way of life of indigenous communities has been negatively affected by the establishment of game reserves and other projects (articles 26 and 27).
