6.6 As to the State party's other arguments, the Committee notes that the author has not advanced any claim to a free-standing right to a permanent residence permit, but rather that he claims that the refusal to grant a permanent residence permit to him on the grounds of social origin as a former employee of a foreign intelligence and security service violates his right to non-discrimination and equality before the law.
