The special focus on Africa stems from initiatives such as the United Nations Millennium Declaration (General Assembly resolution 55/2) and the priorities set out by the African Union and NEPAD, and Economic and Social Council resolution 2004/32 of 21 July 2004, entitled " Implementation of technical assistance projects in Africa by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime " .
