2. The Fifth Committee considered the question of the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States, under this item, at its 15th meeting, on 23 October 2000.

1. Takes note of the report of the Secretary-General on the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States and of the related report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions;

1. The Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions has considered the report of the Secretary-General on the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States (A/54/763).
1 - نظرت اللجنة الاستشارية لشؤون الإدارة والميزانية في تقرير الأمين العام بشأن استعراض معدلات سداد المبالغ التي ترد إلى حكومات الدول المساهمة بقوات (A/54/763).

Having considered the report of the Secretary-General on the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States and the related report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions,

For its consideration of the question, the Committee had before it the report of the Secretary-General on the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States (A/54/763) and the related report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (A/54/859).

4. At the 15th meeting, on 23 October, the Chairman of the Committee introduced a draft resolution entitled " Review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States " (A/C.5/55/L.6), informal consultations on which had been coordinated by the representative of Cuba on behalf of the Chairman.
4 - في الجلسة 15، المعقودة في 23 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر، قام الرئيس عقب مشاورات غير رسمية نسقها ممثل كوبا بالنيابة عنه، بتقديم مشروع قرار معنون " استعراض معدلات سداد المبالغ التي ترد إلى حكومات الدول المساهمة بقوات " (A/C.5/55/L.6).

30. Turning to the report of the Secretary-General on review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing countries (A/54/763), the European Union was of the view that the methodology used by the Secretary-General to define the adequacy of rates of reimbursement was in need of substantial improvement.

9. As indicated in paragraph 8 of the report of the Secretary-General on the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States (A/54/763), the following three points were considered in the initial study on the basis of which the standard rates of reimbursement were established in 1973:
9 - وكما هو مبين في الفقرة 8 من تقرير الأمين العام من استعراض معدلات سداد المبالغ التي ترد إلى حكومات الدول المساهمة بقوات (A/54/763)، بُحثـت النقاط الثلاث التالية في الدراسة الأولية التي حُددت على أساسها معدلات السداد الموحدة في عام 1973:

1. The General Assembly, in section III, paragraph 2, of its resolution 47/218 of 23 December 1992, took note of the report of the Secretary-General on the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States (A/47/776), and requested the Secretary-General to keep the matter under review and to report thereon to the General Assembly at its forty-eighth session.
١ - أحاطت الجمعية العامة علما، في الفقرة ٢ من الجزء الثالث من قرارها ٤٧/٢١٨ المؤرخ ٢٣ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ٢٩٩١، بتقرير اﻷمين العام عن استعراض معدلات سداد المبالغ التي ترد إلى حكومات الدول المساهمة بقوات )A/47/776(، وطلبت إلى اﻷمين العام أن يبقي هذه المسألة قيد الاستعراض وأن يقدم تقريرا عنها إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثامنة واﻷربعين.
