For its consideration of the item, the Forum had before it the note by the Secretariat entitled " Initiation of the work of the United Nations Forum on Forests with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests " (E/CN.18/2001/7).

3. In resolution 2/3, the Forum invited its secretariat, in collaboration with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, to identify and propose at its fourth session a process to facilitate the carrying out of the review on the effectiveness of the international arrangement on forests at its fifth session.
3 - ودعا المنتدى في القرار 2/3 أمانته إلى أن تحدد وتقترح في دورته الرابعة، بالتعاون مع الشراكة التعاونية المعنية بالغابات، عملية لتيسير القيام بالاستعراض المتعلق بفعالية الترتيب الدولي المتعلق بالغابات في دورته الخامسة.

(a) Its secretariat, in cooperation with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests and taking into account the work of the ad hoc expert groups, to gather baseline information relevant to the specific criteria;
(أ) أمانته إلى جمع معلومات أساسية متصلة بالمعايير المحددة، وذلك بالتعاون مع الشراكة التعاونية المعنية بالغابات ومع مراعاة أعمال أفرقة الخبراء المخصصة؛

42. At the 12th meeting, on 22 June, the Forum had before it a draft decision entitled " Initiation of the work of the United Nations Forum on Forests with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests " , submitted as a result of consultations held in Working Group II under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Slamet Hidayat (Indonesia).

(b) Develop guidelines for national and international agencies by a consultant, in consultation with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, under the terms of references co-written by the Secretariats of the United Nations Forum on Forests and the Convention on Biological Diversity:
(ب) قيام خبير استشاري بوضع مبادئ توجيهية للوكالات الوطنية والدولية، بالتشاور مع الشراكة التعاونية المعنية بالغابات، في إطار صلاحيات تشترك في كتابتها أمانتا منتدى الأمم المتحدة المعني بالغابات واتفاقية التنوع البيولوجي، تنصب على ما يلي:

(g) Promote a forest landscape restoration strategy as a joint initiative with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, building on the work of the Global Partnership on Forest Landscape Restoration and as a means of deciding on the best ecosystem choices available as well as to restore the appropriate balance between human beings and nature in forest landscapes.
(ز) الترويج لوضع استراتيجية تُعيد للغابات مناظرها الطبيعية باعتبارها مبادرة مشتركة مع الشراكة التعاونية المعنية بالغابات، مع الاستعانة بالعمل الذي تقوم به الشراكة العالمية لاستعادة هيئة الغابات وكوسيلة للبت في أفضل الخيارات المتاحة للنظم الإيكولوجية وكذلك لاستعادة التوازن الملائم بين البشر والطبيعة في الغابات بهيئتها ومناظرها الطبيعية.

The Forum may wish to consider the following common items that are not considered in the context of item 3 (see above) as self-standing agenda items: multi-stakeholder dialogue; enhanced cooperation and policy and programme coordination, inter alia, with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests; and intersessional work, including further discussion concerning the ad hoc expert groups.
