79. The Committee agreed with the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee that, while a revision of the Principles was not necessary at the current stage, it was important that States making use of nuclear power sources should conduct their activities in full accordance with the Principles (ibid., para. 80).

٦٨ - واتفقت اللجنة في الرأي مع اللجنة الفرعية العلمية والتقنية على أن النظر في مسألة الحطام الفضائي هام وأنه يلزم تحقيق تعاون دولي للتوسع في الاستراتيجيات الملائمة والتي يمكن تحمل تكاليفها ﻷجل التقليل إلى أدنى حد من اﻷثر الذي يمكن أن يحدثه الحطام الفضائي في البعثات الفضائية المقبلة.

The Committee had agreed with the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee that it was important to have a firm scientific and technical basis for future action on the complex attributes of space debris, and that the Subcommittee should focus on understanding aspects of research related to space debris.
٦١ - وأردف قائلا إن اللجنة تتفق مع اللجنة الفرعية العلمية والتقنية في أنه لتنفيذ التدابير المقبلة الهادفة إلى حل المسائل المعقدة، المتصلة بالهشيم الفضائي، فمن المهم بناء قاعدة علمية وتقنية متينة، مع استمرار اللجنة الفرعية في تركيز الاهتمام على النظر في جوانب البحث المتصلة بالهشيم الفضائي.

2. Since the chief purpose of the aerospace object is its use in outer space, the definition of the term " aerospace object " should be established in consultation with the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.

29- ورأى بعض الوفود أنه ينبغي للجنة الفرعية أن تتعاون تعاوناً أوثق مع اللجنة الفرعية العلمية والتقنية من أجل معالجة الجوانب القانونية للتطورات العلمية والتكنولوجية المتقدمة في الفضاء الخارجي، بغية صوغ قواعد دولية ملزمة تتناول مسائل بالغة الأهمية، مثل الحطام الفضائي واستخدام مصادر القدرة النووية في الفضاء الخارجي.

Some delegations expressed the view that it was essential for the Legal Subcommittee to increase its interaction with the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee in order to promote the elaboration of binding international norms addressing matters relating to, inter alia, the use of nuclear power sources and space debris, considering the impact and association of those matters with regard to activities and life on the Earth.
24- وأعرب بعض الوفود عن رأي مفاده أن من الضروري أن تزيد اللجنة الفرعية القانونية تفاعلها مع اللجنة الفرعية العلمية والتقنية من أجل وضع معايير دولية مُلزِمة، تتناول مسائل تتعلّق، ضمن جملة أمور، باستخدام مصادر القدرة النووية والحطام الفضائي، نظرا إلى التأثير والارتباط الكبيرين لهذه القضايا فيما يتعلق بالأنشطة والحياة على الأرض.
