In an effort to retrieve historical guidance provided to the Parties on the treatment of ozone-depleting substances used on ships, the Secretariat consulted with the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel.
36- في إطار الجهود المبذولة لاستعادة التوجيهات التاريخية التي قدمت إلى الأطراف بشأن التعامل مع المواد المستنفدة للأوزون المستخدمة على متن السفن، تشاورت الأمانة مع فريق التكنولوجيا والتقييم الاقتصادي.

3. To note that two Parties, the European Community and Poland, had requested emergency exemptions for laboratory and analytical uses, which had been approved by the Ozone Secretariat, in consultation with the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel, in accordance with the procedure set forth in paragraph 10 of decision VIII/9.

3. To request the Executive Committee to consider appropriate demonstration projects for alternatives on high-moisture dates, and to ensure that the results of those projects are shared with the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel.

In response to decision XXIII/11, the Secretariat examined available historical documents, reviewed the information submitted by parties and consulted with the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel and the secretariats of IMO and WCO.

The Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol thus decided " to allow the Secretariat, in consultation with the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel, to authorize, in an emergency situation . . . consumption of quantities not exceeding 20 tonnes of ozone-depleting substances for essential uses on application by a Party prior to the next scheduled Meeting of the Parties.
وعليه فقد قرر اجتماع الأطراف في البروتوكول " السماح للأمانة بأن تأذن، بالتشاور مع فريق التكنولوجيا والتقييم الاقتصادي في حالات الطوارئ ... باستهلاك كميات لا تتجاوز 20 طناً من المواد المستنفدة للأوزون للاستخدامات الضرورية بناءاً على طلب يقدمه الطرف المعني قبل الاجتماع التالي المقرر للأطراف.

The representative of Nigeria introduced a draft decision proposing the establishment of an ad hoc working group to work with the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel on its study of the 2003 - 2005 replenishment of the Multilateral Fund. He observed that the 10th Meeting of the Parties had followed the same procedure with regard to the previous replenishment, and that he felt it had been a useful exercise and should be repeated.

In consultation with the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel and the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (hereinafter referred to as the Climate Change secretariat), the Ozone Secretariat identified hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and perfluorocarbons (PFCs) as the high globalwarming-potential alternatives to be discussed in the report.

(b) One suggestion was to consider whether to continue to work with the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel to regularly update information on the cost and availability of alternatives and to address specific questions related to the full range of types of fluorinated and nonfluorinated alternatives, including on cost, suitability and energy efficiency;

The TOC members are appointed by the TOC Co-chairs, in consultation with the TEAP, for a period of no more than four years. TOC members may be re-nominated for additional periods of up to four years each.
