2.5 On 4 September 2006, the author filed an appeal to the Constitutional Court, arguing that she was aware that the entitlement of persons acquitted of criminal charges to compensation of damages was not guaranteed by the Constitution or by the international human rights treaties, but that the relevant legislation had to be applied in accordance with the principles of equality and non-discrimination.
