The Committee on the Rights of the Child has recently adopted new reporting guidelines under the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict, which encourage States parties to cooperate with my Special Representative and the monitoring and reporting mechanism as per the framework of Security Council resolution 1612 (2005), in the implementation of the Optional Protocol.
