RBA collaborated with the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office (UNSO) and the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) to assist Governments to prepare national reports for the Earth Summit.
إذ تعاون المكتب الاقليمي لافريقيا مع مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية ومؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة المعني بالبيئة والتنمية في مساعدة الحكومات في إعداد التقارير الوطنية لقمة اﻷرض.

Efforts were under way to strengthen the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office in order that UNDP might play an important support role in the implementation of the Convention on Desertification currently under negotiation.

Furthermore, certain requests have reportedly been addressed to the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office, the United Nations Chidren's Fund, the World Health Organization, the World Food Programme and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

The Executive Board further encouraged the Administrator to take the necessary steps to change the name of the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office in order to better reflect its new role.
وشجع المجلس التنفيذي مدير البرنامج كذلك على اتخاذ الخطوات اللازمة لتغيير اسم مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية بغية إظهار دوره الجديد على نحو أفضل.

6. Invites the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office to intensify its efforts to mobilize resources for continued assistance to its mandated countries combating desertification.
٦ - يدعو مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية إلى تكثيف الجهود التي يبذلها لتعبئة الموارد من أجل تقديم مساعدة مستمرة إلى البلدان التي تشملها ولايته والتي تكافح التصحر.

Noting the active role played by the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office in combating drought and the important contribution of the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office to African countries in the ongoing process of negotiating an international convention to combat desertification,
وإذ تلاحظ الدور النشط الذي يؤديه مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية في مكافحة الجفاف والمساهمة الهامة التي يقدمها مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية للبلدان الافريقية في العملية الجارية للتفاوض على اتفاقية دولية لمكافحة التصحر،

It also took note of decision 93/33 of the Governing Council of UNDP to make the experience and expertise of the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office (UNSO) available to all affected countries.
كما أحاطت علما بالمقرر ٩٣/٣٣ لمجلس إدارة برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹنمائي بأن تتاح لجميع البلدان المتضررة تجارب وخبرات مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية.

On that issue, the Executive Secretary also stressed that the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office also ensured the participation of representatives from 22 countries of the Sudano-Sahelian region.
وبشأن هذه القضية، أكد اﻷمين التنفيذي أيضا أن مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية كفل بالفعل أيضا مشاركة ممثلين من ٢٢ بلدا من المنطقة السودانية الساحلية .

204. Further to its decision 95/6 of 13 January 1995, the Executive Board took note of the change in name of the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office to the Office to Combat Desertification and Drought.
٢٠٥ - إلحاقا بالمقرر ٩٥/٦ المؤرخ ١٣ كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٥، أحاط المجلس التنفيذي علما بتغيير اسم مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية إلى مكتب مكافحة التصحر والجفاف.

Took note of the change of name from the United Nations Sudano-Sahelian Office to " Office to Combat Desertification and Drought " while keeping the acronym " UNSO " in all languages.
أحاط علما بتغيير اسم مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية ليصبح " مكتب مكافحة التصحر والجفاف " مع الاحتفاظ بالمختصر " " UNSO في جميع اللغات؛

9. In UNDP Executive Board decision 95/6, the Board noted its support for the initiatives that the UNDP Administrator had taken in support of the implementation of the Convention to Combat Desertification, including the reorganization of UNSO and its activities in light of the Convention to Combat Desertification.
٩ - وفي المقرر ٩٥/٦ للمجلس التنفيذي لبرنامج اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹنمائي، ذكر المجلس تأييده لمبادرات مدير برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹنمائي الداعمة لتنفيذ الاتفاقية الدولية لمكافحة التصحر، بما في ذلك إعادة تنظيم مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية وأنشطته في ضوء تلك الاتفاقية.

The project would also help the Government to prepare its national environmental plan, which was to be the subject of a sectoral consultation in 1994, with the support and participation of UNSO, the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
وسيساعد هذا المشروع الحكومة أيضا على إعداد خطتها الوطنية للبيئة التي ستكون موضوع مشاورة قطاعية في عام ١٩٩٤، بدعم ومشاركة من مكتب اﻷمم المتحدة للمنطقة السودانية الساحلية والبنك الدولي ومنظمة اﻷمم المتحدة لﻷغذية والزراعة )الفاو(.
