In contrast, the Malay Peninsula, including the island of Singapore, was the land of the Malays (Tanah Melayu) before the first Chinese and Indian immigrants came and settled there. The British, who did not depose the Malay rulers as they did the Singhalese king in Kandy, made sure that the native position of the Malays was constitutionally secure from the start.
وعلى النقيض من هذا فإن شبه جزيرة الملايا بما في ذلك جزيرة سنغافورة كانت موطناً لشعب الملايو (تاناه ملايو) قبل وصول أول المهاجرين الصينيين والهنود واستقرارهم هناك. كما أن البريطانيين، الذين لم يخلعوا حكام الملايو كما فعلوا مع ملك السنهاليين في كاندي، حرصوا منذ البداية على تأمين الوضع الدستوري لشعب الملايو.

Bearing in mind the intersectionality of ethnicity and religion in certain circumstances and taking into account the Committee's general recommendation No. 25 (2000) on gender-related dimensions of racial discrimination, the Committee urges the State party to take the necessary measures, including legislative ones, to ensure, in accordance with the Convention, the equal treatment and non-discrimination of Malayu women.
إذ تراعي اللجنة تقاطع الشؤون الإثنية والدينية في بعض الظروف، وإذ تأخذ بعين الاعتبار التوصية العامة للجنة رقم 25(2000) بشأن أبعاد التمييز العنصري المتعلقة بنوع الجنس، تحث اللجنة الدولةَ الطرف على اتخاذ التدابير اللازمة، ومنها التدابير التشريعية، لضمان المساواة في معاملة نساء ملايو وعدم التمييز ضدهن وذلك تماشياً مع الاتفاقية.
