4. During its forty-fourth session, the Commission had finalized and adopted the revised UNCITRAL Model Law on Public Procurement, which updated the 1994 Model Law in order to reflect the experience gained in its use and developments in public procurement practices.

The United Kingdom actively supported the work of Working Group I (Procurement) and the current review of the UNCITRAL Model Law on Procurement of Goods, Construction and Services, which would afford an important opportunity to introduce modern procurement practices, such as electronic procurement, into the Model Law.

It was felt that, according to best procurement practice, there could not be a better starting point than the point in time at which all the suppliers or contractors concerned were appropriately notified about the outcome of the evaluation process.
