In accordance with Economic and Social Council decision 2013/235, the Secretary-General has the honour to transmit the report of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific on statistics and the post-2015 development agenda: perspectives from the Asia-Pacific region, which is submitted to the Statistical Commission for discussion and decision.

A workshop on gender entitled " perspectives from the Asia field programmes " was held in Geneva in March 2009, gathering mine action national directors and United Nations advisers from Afghanistan, Cambodia, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand and knowledge-management and gender specialists.
وقد عقدت حلقة عمل عن الشؤون الجنسانية معنونة " منظورات من برامج آسيا الميدانية " بجنيف في آذار/مارس 2009، جمعت المديرين الوطنيين لمكافحة الألغام ومستشاري الأمم المتحدة من أفغانستان، وتايلند، وجمهورية لاو الديمقراطية الشعبية، وجمهورية نيبال الديمقراطية الاتحادية، وسري لانكا، وكمبوديا، إلى جانب اختصاصيين في إدارة المعارف والشؤون الجنسانية.

29. José Ramos-Horta, former President of Timor-Leste and 1996 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, delivered the twentieth U Thant Distinguished Lecture, co-organized by the UNU Centre and the Science Council of Japan at UNU headquarters in November, on the topic " Global Governance and Peacebuilding: perspectives from Timor-Leste " .
