The results of the first phase of the Nairobi work programme have been made possible by the active engagement of experts from Parties and organizations and individual experts in the implementation of mandated activities, and by organizations undertaking their own activities in support of the objective and themes identified in decision 2/CP.11.

10. Financial contributions towards the implementation of the second phase of the Nairobi work programme were provided by Austria, Canada, the European Commission, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

In relation to the issues of availability and accessibility of information and how it can be used to support decision-making, it was recommended that regional workshops be convened as part of the Nairobi work programme to examine how relevant information is generated and applied to support integration, with a view to sharing experiences and learning from good practice.
56- وفيما يتعلق بمسائل توافر المعلومات وإمكانية الحصول عليها والطريقة التي يمكن أن تُستخدم بها لدعم صنع القرارات، أوصي بأن تُعقد حلقات عمل إقليمية كجزء من برنامج عمل نيروبي لدراسة طرق توليد المعلومات ذات الصلة وتطبيقها لدعم الإدماج، بغية تقاسم التجارب والتعلم من الممارسات الجيدة.

16. The SBSTA, at its twenty-eighth session, noted that outcomes of activities completed under the first and second phases of the Nairobi work programme may contain useful information for Parties in the consideration of relevant agenda items under the SBI.
16- وأشارت الهيئة الفرعية للمشورة العلمية والتكنولوجية، في دورتها الثامنة والعشرين، إلى أن نتائج الأنشطة التي أُنجزت في إطار المرحلتين الأولى والثانية من برنامج عمل نيروبي قد تنطوي على معلومات تفيد الأطراف في سياق نظرها في البنود ذات الصلة من جدول أعمال الهيئة الفرعية للتنفيذ().

In accordance with the conclusions of the SBSTA, this active engagement should be continued and enhanced in the second phase of the Nairobi work programme in order to progress even further towards the objective and expected outcomes of the programme, and in order to assist Parties in meeting any future requests for adaptation expertise from the UNFCCC process.

Many participants emphasized that activities completed under the nine areas of work during the first phase of the Nairobi work programme resulted in the collection and generation of knowledge and information, and thus contributed mainly to the first part of the objective of the work programme, which is to assist Parties to improve their understanding and assessment of impacts, vulnerability and adaptation.
16- وشدد كثير من المشاركين على أن الأنشطة المنجزة في إطار مجالات العمل التسعة أثناء المرحلة الأولى من برنامج عمل نيروبي قد أدت إلى تجميع وتوليد معارف ومعلومات، فأسهمت بالتالي وبشكل رئيسي في تحقيق الجزء الأول من هدف برنامج العمل المتمثل في مساعدة الأطراف على تحسين فهمها وتقديرها لتأثيرات تغير المناخ والقابلية للتأثر به والتكيف معه.

The SBSTA noted the importance of research activities that contribute to the work of the Convention, including activities undertaken as part of the Nairobi work programme, such as the insession workshop on climate modelling, scenarios and downscaling to be held at the twenty-eighth session of the SBSTA.
49- وأحاطت الهيئة الفرعية علماً بأهمية الأنشطة البحثية التي تساهم في عمل الاتفاقية، بما في ذلك الأنشطة المضطلع بها كجزء من برنامج عمل نيروبي المتعلق بتأثيرات تغير المناخ وقابلية التأثر به والتكيف معه، من قبيل حلقة العمل المتعلقة بوضع النماذج والسيناريوهات المناخية وتخفيض قيم بياناتها، المقرر عقدها أثناء الدورة الثامنة والعشرين للهيئة الفرعية.

Parties at SBSTA 28 also agreed to promote the implementation of recommendations and Calls for Action from the first phase of the Nairobi work programme by a broad range of stakeholders, including organizations, institutions, experts, communities and the private sector, with a view to undertaking activities at international, regional, national and subnational levels.
90- واتفقت الأطراف أيضاً في الدورة الثامنة والعشرين للهيئة الفرعية على تعزيز تنفيذ التوصيات ونداءات العمل الناشئة عن المرحلة الأولى من برنامج عمل نيروبي من جانب مجموعة واسعة من أصحاب المصلحة بمن فيهم المنظمات والمؤسسات والخبراء والمجتمعات المحلية والقطاع الخاص، بهدف الاضطلاع بأنشطة على المستويات الدولي والإقليمي والوطني ودون الوطني.
