I have the honour to transmit to you herewith the decisions taken by the General Assembly at the 3rd plenary meeting of its fifty-third session pertaining to the allocation of items to the First Committee.

29. Further requests the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly at the main part of its fifty-third session on the implementation of all of the provisions of the present resolution.
٢٩ - تطلب كذلك إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم إلى الجمعية العامة في الجزء الرئيسي من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين تقريرا عن تنفيذ جميع أحكام هذا القرار.

40. Requests the Committee for Programme and Coordination at its thirty-eighth session to review the new narrative and to submit its conclusions and recommendations thereon to the General Assembly for its consideration during the first part of its fifty-third session and no later than 1 October 1998;
٠٤ - تطلب إلى لجنة البرنامج والتنسيق أن تستعرض السرد الجديد في دورتها الثامنة والثلاثين، وأن تقدم استنتاجاتها وتوصياتها بشأنه إلى الجمعية العامة لكي تنظر فيها خلال الجزء اﻷول من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وفي موعد لا يتجاوز تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٨؛

29. Therefore, should the Security Council decide to extend the mandate of MONUA, as recommended in paragraph 37 below, the balance of the requirements for the maintenance of the Mission, as contained in my report of 16 March 1998, will be sought from the General Assembly at the regular part of its fifty-third session.
٢٩ - ومن ثم، فاذا قرر مجلس اﻷمن تمديد ولاية البعثة، حسب التوصية الواردة في الفقرة ٣٧ أدناه، فسوف تلتمس بقية الاحتياجات اللازمة لاستمرار عمل البعثة، على النحو الوارد في تقريري المؤرخ ١٦ آذار/ مارس ١٩٩٨، من الجمعية العامة في الجزء العادي من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين.

18. Therefore, should the Council decide to extend the mandate of MINURSO, as recommended in paragraph 23 below, the balance of the requirements for the maintenance of the Mission, as contained in my report of 16 March 1998, will be sought from the General Assembly at the main part of its fifty-third session.
١٨ - وعليه، إذا قرر المجلس تمديد ولاية البعثة على النحو الموصى به في الفقرة ٢٣ أدناه، فإن باقي الاحتياجات اللازمة لمواصلة البعثة على النحو الوارد في تقريري المؤرخ ١٦ آذار/ مارس ١٩٩٨، سيطلب من الجمعية العامة في الجزء الرئيسي من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين.

29. Should the Council authorize the extension of MONUA as indicated in paragraph 34 below, I intend to submit the revised budget for the period from 1 July 1998 to 30 June 1999 for consideration by the General Assembly at the main part of its fifty-third session.
٩٢ - وإذا أذن المجلس بتمديد البعثة على النحو المبين في الفقرة ٣٤ أدناه، فإنني أعتزم أن أقدم الميزانية المنقحة للفترة من ١ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٨ إلى ٣٠ حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٩ لكي تنظر فيها الجمعية العامة في الجزء الرئيسي من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين.

At the same session, the General Assembly decided that the high-level dialogue would take place on 17 and 18 September 1998, as part of its fifty-third session (decision 52/480).
وفي نفس الدورة، قررت الجمعية العامة أن يجري الحوار الرفيع المستوى في ١٧ و ١٨ أيلول/سبتمبر ١٩٩٨ كجزء من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين )المقرر ٥٢/٤٨٠(.

At the 17th meeting of its fifty-third session, on 13 March 2009, the Commission appointed Koh Sang-Wook (Republic of Korea) and Kadra Ahmed Hassan (Djibouti) to serve on the Working Group for the fifty-fourth session of the Commission.
وعينت اللجنة في الجلسة 17 من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين المعقودة في 13 آذار/مارس 2009، كوه سانغ - ووك (جمهورية كوريا) وكادرا أحمد حسن (جيبوتي) في عضوية الفريق العامل للدورة الرابعة والخمسين للجنة.

٢ - تطلب الى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم تقريرا شاملا عن ممارسات الاستعانة بمصادر خارجية، يوضع فيه في الاعتبار على النحو الواجب تقريرا وحدة التفتيش المشتركة)٥( ومكتب خدمات المراقبة الداخلية)٦(، لتنظر فيه الجمعية العامة في الجزء الرئيسي من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين.

“Requests the General Assembly during the first part of its fifty-third session to review the distribution of seats in the Executive Board of the World Food Programme with a view to achieving its final outcome in accordance with annex I, paragraphs 25 and 30 and other relevant provisions of General Assembly resolution 48/162.”

2. Requests the Secretary-General to submit, for consideration by the General Assembly at the main part of its fifty-third session, a comprehensive report on outsourcing practices, duly taking into account the reports of the Joint Inspection Unit6 and the Office of Internal Oversight Services.7
٢ - تطلب الى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم تقريرا شاملا عن ممارسات الاستعانة بمصادر خارجية، يراعي فيه على النحو الواجب تقريري وحدة التفتيش المشتركة)٦( ومكتب المراقبة الداخلية)٧(، لتنظر فيه الجمعية العامة في الجزء الرئيسي من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين.

The President: I should like to recall for the attention of delegations that, by taking note of these two letters, the General Assembly has thus decided, inter alia, that the high-level dialogue on strengthening international economic cooperation for development through partnership will take place on 17 and 18 September 1998, as part of its fifty-third session.

Programme of work In accordance with paragraph 7 of its resolution 40/243 of 18 December 1985, the General Assembly, on the proposal of the President, decided to authorize the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council to meet during the main part of its fifty-third session.
وفقا للفقرة ٧ من القرار ٤٠/٢٤٣ المــؤرخ ١٨ كانــون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٨٥، قررت الجمعية العامة، بناء علــى اقتــراح مــن الرئيس، أن تأذن للفريق العامل المفتوح بــاب العضوية المعني بمسألة التمثيل العادل في مجلس اﻷمن وزيادة عــدد أعضائــه والمسائل اﻷخرى المتصلة بمجلس اﻷمن أن يجتمع خــلال الجــزء الرئيسي من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين.

With respect to the membership of the Security Council during the period under review, it will be recalled that the General Assembly, at the 33rd plenary meeting of its fifty-third session, on 8 October 1998, elected Argentina, Canada, Malaysia, Namibia and the Netherlands to fill the vacancies resulting from the expiration on 31 December 1998 of the terms of office of Costa Rica, Japan, Kenya, Portugal and Sweden.
وفيما يتعلق بعضوية مجلس اﻷمن خلال الفترة قيد الاستعراض، يذكر أن الجمعية العامة قامت في الجلسة العامة ٣٣ من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين المعقودة في ٨ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٨ بانتخاب اﻷرجنتين وكندا وماليزيا وناميبيا وهولندا لملء الشواغر التي نجمت عن انتهاء فترة عضوية البرتغال والسويد وكوستاريكا وكينيا واليابان في ٣١ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٨.

Furthermore, the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit a comprehensive report on outsourcing practices, duly taking into account the reports of the Joint Inspection Unit (A/52/338) and the OIOS (A/52/813), for consideration by the Assembly at the main part of its fifty-third session (resolution 52/226 B).

At that same intersessional meeting, the Commission agreed that the one-day thematic debate would be held on the second day of its fifty-third session, as per established practice, and that subthemes (a) and (b) of the thematic debate would be considered in the morning meeting and subthemes (c) and (d) would be taken up in the afternoon meeting.
واتفقت اللجنة في الاجتماع نفسه المعقود فيما بين الدورتين على أن تُعقد المناقشة المواضيعية التي تستغرق يوما واحدا في اليوم الثاني من دورتها الثالثة والخمسين وفقا للممارسة المتبعة، وعلى أن يُنظر خلال الجلسة الصباحية في موضوعي المناقشة المواضيعية الفرعيين (أ) و(ب) وأن يُنظر خلال الجلسة المسائية في موضوعيها الفرعيين (ج) و(د).
