8. A substantial number of UNICEF good practices with indigenous peoples emerge from the Latin America and Caribbean region, where UNICEF activities date back to the 1960s and perhaps even earlier, focusing on high-poverty areas, most of which were, and still are, indigenous areas.

Another delegation from the Latin America and Caribbean region, in complete agreement with previous comments, added that the methodological changes would disproportionately affect rural and marginalized women in middle-income Group of Latin America and Caribbean Countries as well as in the Asia-Pacific region, by reducing resources.

Additional plenary sessions will address issues related to indigenous and traditional knowledge, synergies with the other Rio conventions and regional perspectives from Latin America and the Caribbean.

أما العمود الثالث فيشمل أساسا بلدانا من آسيا والمحيط الهادئ ومن افريقيا؛ ويمتد فيه نطاق نصيب الفرد من الناتج المحلي اﻹجمالي من ٤٣٥ دولارا )جزر القمر( إلى ١٠١ ٨ دولار )قبرص( ويشمل العمود الرابع سبعة بلدان منها خمسة من منطقة أمريكا اللاتينية والبحر الكاريبي.

The committee agreed that the meeting of experts would be chaired by us and would be attended by experts from each of the five United Nations regional groups, as follows: three from Africa, five from Asia and the Pacific, two from Central and Eastern Europe, three from Latin America and the Caribbean and six from the Western European and other States.
