The Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF made the following recommendations, inter alia: peace process in Burundi should be strengthened; a political solution was needed to the conflict in northern Uganda; the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) must immediately cease recruiting, and must demobilize, the children it was using; the Government of Uganda must protect all civilians and help displaced persons to return home when conditions permitted.

At the 37th meeting, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict also briefed the Working Group on the situation of children and armed conflict in the Central African Republic and Mali, and the Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF presented the global horizontal note for November and December 2012.
16 - وخلال الجلسة السابعة والثلاثين، قدمت الممثلة الخاصة للأمين العام المعنية بالأطفال والنزاع المسلح أيضا إحاطة إلى الفريق العامل بشأن حالة الأطفال والنزاع المسلح في جمهورية أفريقيا الوسطى ومالي، وعرضت نائبة المدير التنفيذي لليونيسيف المذكرة الأفقية الشاملة لشهري تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر وكانون الأول/ديسمبر 2012.

21. The Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF then presented the Secretary-General's global horizontal note for November-December 2010, placing particular emphasis on the situation of children in the Philippines and South Sudan; in Afghanistan, where the occupation of educational spaces was of growing concern; and in Côte d'Ivoire, where there was an increasing need to monitor the impact of violence on children.
