The Deputy to the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator informed delegations that the translation of guiding principles on internally displaced persons into operational guidelines was currently being undertaken as a priority, but that the protection of internally displaced persons remained an issue that needed to be further addressed.

By a letter dated 2 March 1994, the then Deputy to the Under-Secretary-General in charge of the Office of Legal Affairs requested the Commission to transfer all information at its disposal to the Prosecutor's Office.

The Deputy to the Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs informed the Committee that, subsequent to the preparation of the memorandum, additional credentials in due form had been received in respect of the representatives of three Member States (Congo, Mauritania and Suriname) and updated the memorandum accordingly.

4. At the 10th meeting, on 21 October, introductory statements were made by the Under-Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Sustainable Development under sub-items 97 (d) and (e) and the Director and Deputy to the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs under sub-item 97 (f) (see A/C.2/51/SR.10).
