16. In the above-mentioned resolution, the General Assembly recognized the improvements made in the functioning of the Unit, encouraged the Unit to continue its efforts in that respect and endorsed the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit, as contained in annex I to the annual report of the Unit for the period from 1 July 1996 to 30 June 1997.
16 - وفي القرار سالف الذكر، أشادت الجمعية العامة بالتحسينات التي أدخلت على أداء الوحدة، وشجعتها على مواصلة بذل جهودها في هذا الصدد، وأقرت نظام متابعة تقارير الوحدة، بصيغته الواردة في المرفق الأول من التقرير السنوي للوحدة للفترة من 1 تموز/يوليه 1996 إلى 30 حزيران/يونيه 1997.

4. Endorses the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit, as contained in annex I to the annual report of the Unit for the period from 1 July 1996 to 30 June 1997,2 and, in this connection, invites the Unit:

In resolution 59/267, the General Assembly reaffirmed its request to the Executive Heads of the participating organizations that have not yet done so to take the steps necessary to facilitate the consideration of and action on the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit, and invited the legislative organs concerned to consider the system and take action in this regard.
في القرار 59/267 أكدت الجمعية العامة من جديد طلبها إلى الرؤساء التنفيذيين للمنظمات المشاركة بأن يتخذوا الخطوات اللازمة لتيسير النظر في نظام متابعة تقارير الوحدة واتخاذ الإجراءات بشأنه، إن لم يكونوا قد قاموا بذلك، ودعت الأجهزة التشريعية المعنية إلى النظر في هذا النظام واتخاذ إجراءات في هذا الصدد.

Reiterates once again its request to the executive heads of the participating organizations that have not yet done so to take the steps necessary to facilitate the consideration of and action on the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit, and invites the legislative organs concerned to consider the system and take action in that regard;

It also endorsed the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit (see A/52/34, annex I), and in that connection invited the Unit to include in its annual reports approved recommendations that had not been implemented and requested the system to be implemented expeditiously.

Also reaffirms its request to the executive heads of the participating organizations that have not yet done so to take the steps necessary to facilitate the consideration of and action on the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit, and invites the legislative organs concerned to consider the system and take action in that regard;

Moreover, noting that the proposed intention was no longer to present all the reports provided for by the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit instituted by resolution 54/16, his delegation sought confirmation that the reports indeed constituted duplication, in which case it was prepared to consider the Secretary-General's proposal.

In its resolution 54/16, the General Assembly invited the Unit, while preparing its annual programme of work, to give priority to the reports requested by the participating organizations; and endorsed the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit (see A/52/34, annex I) and invited the Unit to include in its annual reports approved recommendations that had not been implemented.
ودعت الجمعية الوحدة، في قرارها 54/16، إلى أن تولي، عند إعداد برنامج عملها السنوي ، الأولوية للتقارير التي تطلبها المنظمات المشاركة. وأيدت نظام متابعة تقارير الوحدة (انظر A/52/34، المرفق الأول) ودعت الوحدة إلى إدراج التوصيات المعتمدة التي لم يتم تنفيذها في تقاريرها السنوية.

13. Requests the executive heads of those participating organizations that have not yet done so to take the necessary steps to facilitate the consideration of and action on the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit,5 and invites the legislative organs concerned to consider and act upon it;
13 - تطلب إلى الرؤساء التنفيذيين لتلك المنظمات المشاركة اتخاذ الخطوات الضرورية لتيسير النظر في نظام متابعة تقارير الوحدة(5) واتخاذ إجراء بشأن هذا النظام، إن لم تكن قد فعلت ذلك بعد، وتدعو الأجهزة التشريعية المعنية إلى النظر فيه واتخاذ إجراء بشأنه؛

33. It should also be recalled that, in paragraph 27 of its resolution 59/267, the General Assembly reaffirmed its request to the executive heads of the participating organizations that had not yet done so to take the steps necessary to facilitate the consideration of and action on the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit, and invited the legislative organs concerned to consider the system and take action in that regard.
33 - وينبغي كذلك الإشارة إلى أن الجمعية العامة أكدت من جديد في الفقرة 27 من القرار 59/267 طلبها إلى الرؤساء التنفيذيين للمنظمات المشاركة بأن يتخذوا الخطوات اللازمة لتيسير النظر في نظام متابعة تقارير الوحدة واتخاذ الإجراءات بشأنه، إن لم يكونوا قد قاموا بذلك بعد، ودعت الأجهزة التشريعية المعنية إلى النظر في هذا النظام واتخاذ إجراءات في هذا الصدد.

27.7 As established in the system of follow-up to the reports of the Joint Inspection Unit, which was endorsed by the General Assembly in its resolution 54/16, in order for the Unit's reports to be thoroughly and effectively utilized by the legislative organs of participating organizations, it must issue recommendations that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound (SMART).
27-7 وكما هو محدد في نظام متابعة تقارير وحدة التفتيش المشتركة الذي أيدته الجمعية العامة في قرارها 54/16، لكي تتمكن الهيئات التشريعية للمنظمات المشارِكة من تحقيق الاستفادة الكاملة والفعالة من تقارير الوحدة، يجب أن تكون التوصيات الواردة في تلك التقارير محددة وقابلة للقياس ويمكن تحقيقها وذات صلة ومحددة المدة الزمنية (SMART).

27. The General Assembly has addressed this issue and, in its resolution 56/245 of 24 December 2001, stressed that compliance with the provisions of paragraph 4 of the system of follow-up to the reports of the Unit3 was a responsibility of the Unit as a whole, and requested the Unit to exercise fully its collective wisdom in accordance with article 11, paragraph 2, of its statute.
27 - وتناولت الجمعية العامة هذه المسألة في قرارها 56/245 المؤرخ 24 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2001، وشددت على أن الامتثال للأحكام الواردة في الفقرة 4 من نظام متابعة تقارير الوحدة() تقع مسؤوليتها على الوحدة ككل وطلبت إلى الوحدة أن تبدي حكمتها الجماعية التامة المتمثلة في خط فكري عام وفقا للفقرة 2 من المادة 11 من النظام الأساسي.
