The overall goal of the project is to identify and safeguard globally important ingenious Agricultural Heritage Systems and their associated landscapes, agricultural biodiversity and knowledge systems through catalysing and establishing a long-term programme to support such systems and enhance global, national and local benefits derived from their dynamic conservation, sustainable management and enhanced viability.
21 - إن الهدف العام للمشروع هو تحديد وحماية نظم التراث الزراعي البارعة الهامة على صعيد العالم وما يرتبط بها من معالم طبيعية وتنوع أحيائي زراعي ونظم للمعارف، وذلك عن طريق حفز وإنشاء برنامج طويل الأجل لدعم تلك الأنظمة وتعزيز الفوائد العالمية والوطنية والمحلية المستمدة من الحفاظ الديناميكي على تلك الأنظمة وإدارتها بطريقة مستدامة وتعزيز قدرتها على البقاء.

36. In 2002, FAO initiated a programme on the conservation and adaptive management of Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems, aiming to establish a basis for the global recognition, conservation and sustainable management of such systems and their associated landscapes, biodiversity, knowledge systems and cultures.
36 - ابتدرت المنظمة في عام 2002 برنامجا يعنى بالمحافظة على نظم التراث الزراعي ذات الأهمية على الصعيد العالمي وإدارتها التكيفية. وترمي هذه المبادرة إلى إرساء قاعدة للاعتراف بهذه النظم على الصعيد العالمي والمحافظة عليها وإدارتها وما يتصل بها من مناظر طبيعية وتنوع أحيائي ونظم معرفة وثقافات، على نحو مستدام.

This inter-agency initiative has included in the full-stage project preparation, the collaboration of indigenous peoples professionals, and the comments expressed during the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity, in December 2005, related to the need to include indigenous peoples in the selection of the Heritage Systems.
واشتملت هذه المبادرة المشتركة بين الوكالات، في مرحلة الإعداد الكامل للمشروع، على تعاون اختصاصيين من الشعوب الأصلية، والتعليقات المعرب عنها أثناء المنتدى الدولي للشعوب الأصلية المعني بالتنوع البيولوجي، الذي عقد في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2005، والمتعلقة بالحاجة إلى إشراك الشعوب الأصلية في اختيار نظم التراث الزراعي.
