More recently, General Assembly resolution 53/77 X, adopted in December last year, reaffirms this status in reiterating to the Conference “the establishment, on a priority basis, of an ad hoc committee on nuclear disarmament to commence negotiations early on a phased programme of nuclear disarmament and for the eventual elimination of nuclear weapons with a specified framework of time through a nuclear weapons convention”.
وفي تاريخ أقرب عهداً أكد قرار الجمعية العامة 53/77 خاء الذي اعتمد في كانون الأول/ديسمبر العام الماضي من جديد هذه الأولوية وذلك بتكرار طلبها إلى مؤتمر نزع السلاح " بأن ينشئ على سبيل الأولوية، لجنة مخصصة لنزع السلاح النووي لتبدأ مفاوضاتها في وقت مبكر بشأن برنامج مقسم إلى مراحل لنزع السلاح النووي لإزالة الأسلحة النووية في نهاية المطاف ضمن إطار زمني محدد عن طريق اتفاقية للأسلحة النووية " .
