٧٩ - ومضى قائلا إن الوثائق التي قدمها وفدا نيوزيلندا وأوكرانيا تتضمن بعض اﻷفكار الجديدة الهامة بشأن مسألة ضمان سلامة موظفي اﻷمم المتحدة، وإن وفده على يقين من أنه يمكن أن تكون ذات فائدة كبيرة.

85. The proposals submitted by New Zealand and Ukraine were not limited to reiterating the rights and obligations which already existed in other international instruments, but were intended to deal positively with the new realities which the United Nations and associated agencies were called upon to confront.

At last year's session of the General Assembly, a new item on responsibility for attacks on United Nations and associated personnel was, at New Zealand's initiative, inscribed on the agenda of the Sixth Committee and discussions were commenced in a working group on the basis of draft conventions put forward by New Zealand and Ukraine.
وفي دورة الجمعية العامة في السنة الماضية، وبمبادرة من نيوزيلندا، أدرج بند جديد حول المسؤولية عن الاعتداءات على موظفــي اﻷمم المتحدة واﻷفراد المرتبطين بها في جدول أعمال اللجنة السادسة، وبدأت المناقشات في فريق عامل على أساس مشروع الاتفاقيتين المقدمتين من نيوزيلندا وأوكرانيا.

As we all know, the ad hoc committee and, subsequently, the working group of the Sixth Committee at the current session, were able to make very good progress on the elaboration of the new convention on the basis of a draft proposed jointly by New Zealand and Ukraine.

٠٥ - على أثر التصريح الذي أدلى به رئيس مجلس اﻷمن بإسم المجلس، في ١٣ آذار/مارس ٣٩٩١، الذي أكد فيه بشكل خاص أنه ينبغي لكل الهيئات المختصة للمنظمة أن تعمل بشكل منسق من أجل تحسين أمن قوات اﻷمم المتحدة وموظفيها، عرضت نيوزيلندا وأوكرانيا على الهيئات المختصة مشروعي اتفاقيتين بشأن سلامة الموظفين.

His delegation thus very much hoped that the draft resolution prepared by the New Zealand and Ukrainian delegations would be supported by all delegations of the Sixth Committee and of the plenary Assembly.
