The Government of Iraq protests in the strongest terms against this violation of its territory and airspace by the Turkish armed forces, and it calls upon the Turkish Government to withdraw its invading forces from Iraqi territory forthwith and to desist from any repetition of practices that are incompatible with relations of good neighbourliness and the principles of international law and of the Charter of the United Nations.
إن حكومة جمهورية العراق تحتج بشدة على خرق حرمة أراضي وأجواء جمهورية العراق من قِبل القوات المسلحة التركية، وتطالب الحكومة التركية بسحب قواتها الغازية من داخل اﻷراضي العراقية فورا والكف عن تكرار هذه الممارسات التي تتناقض مع علاقات حسن الجوار ومبادئ القانون الدولي وميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة.

On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to transmit the text of a letter dated 12 June 1998 addressed to you by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Mr. Mohammed Said Al-Sahaf, on the subject of the continued Turkish aggression against the territory and airspace of Iraq.

I should like to inform you that United States and British armed forces continue to carry out acts of aggression against the integrity of Iraq's territory and airspace, in flagrant violation of the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law.

The ongoing series of hostile operations and the flagrant violations of Iraq's territory and airspace that are being committed by the Turkish armed forces only confirm Iraq's repeated warnings against the consequences of the duplicitous policy being pursued by Turkey vis-à-vis the anomalous situation in northern Iraq and against Turkey's participation in perpetuating that situation by open interference in the internal affairs of Iraq.
إن استمرار مسلسل العمليات العدوانية والانتهاكات الفاضحة التي تقوم بها القوات المسلحة التركية لأراضي وأجواء جمهورية العراق، يؤكد تحذيرات العراق المستمرة من مغبة السياسة المزدوجة التي تتبعها تركيا تجاه الحالة الشاذة في شمالي العراق والإسهام في أدامتها في تدخل سافر لشؤون العراق الداخلية.

By way of example, during the period 1 to 10 April 1995, Turkish combat aircraft and military helicopters violated the territorial integrity and airspace of the Republic of Iraq in 22 sorties. A list of these violations is enclosed.

The Council heard a statement from the United Arab Emirates to the effect that provocative Iranian intrusions onto its islands and violations of its airspace were continuing up to the present time.
