بيد أنه وقد بدأ العالم قرناً جديداً، بل وألفية جديدة في الواقع، فهل يجد نفسه أقرب مما كان إلى بلوغ هذا الهدف الجماعي؟ وهل أفلح المجتمع الدولي في جعل عملية نزع السلاح الشامل عملية مستدامة؟ وهل نحن نعيش اليوم في عالم أقل أم أكثر أماناً من ذي قبل؟ يؤسفني أن أقول إنه ما من أجوبة بسيطة على هذه التساؤلات.
