6. At the opening of the workshop, introductory statements were made by representatives of Al al-Bayt University, ESA and the United Nations.

The Netherlands supports the ESA proposal to continue the space application programme of the United Nations and ESA after UNISPACE III and to focus the programme on the operational aspects of space applications.
وتؤيد هولندا اقتراح الايسا مواصلة تنفيذ برنامج التطبيقات الفضائية المشترك بين اﻷمم المتحدة والايسا بعد اليونيسبيس الثالث وتركيز البرنامج على الجوانب التشغيلية للتطبيقات الفضائية .

The representatives of the Secretariat and ESA had indicated that they would explore ways and means of providing at least a limited amount of data and further training for the ongoing activities of the participants.
وأشار ممثلو اﻷمانة العامة والايسا الى أنهم سيقصون السبل والوسائل الممكنة لتوفير قدر محدود على اﻷقل من البيانات والتدريب الاضافي ﻷنشطة المشاركين الجارية .

A similar process was also under way for Africa and Asia and the Pacific, using input received from participants in other training courses jointly organized by the United Nations and ESA in the regions.
