7. With regard to the enhancement of cooperation between the United Nations and regional arrangements or agencies in the maintenance of international peace and security, his delegation welcomed the initiative by the Russian Federation, since the new challenges facing the Organization in the post-cold-war era necessitated a more innovative and bolder approach to the problem of conflict resolution.

36. With regard to the relationship between the United Nations and regional arrangements or agencies in the maintenance of international peace and security, a clear and detailed definition of the responsibilities of the United Nations and of the regional organizations respectively would contribute to the effectiveness of the collective security system established in Chapter VIII of the Charter.
٣٦ - وفيما يتعلق بالعلاقة بين اﻷمم المتحدة والترتيبات أو الوكالات اﻹقليمية في صيانة السلم واﻷمن الدوليين، قال إن من شأن التحديد الواضح والمفصﱠل لمسؤوليات اﻷمم المتحدة والمنظمات اﻹقليمية على التوالي أن يسهم في فعالية نظام اﻷمن الجماعي المنشأ بموجب الفصل الثامن من الميثاق.
