(a) Welcomed the report, and expressed its appreciation to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for preparing the elaborate road map for improving crime statistics;

1. Takes note of the report of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on a road map to improve the quality and availability of crime statistics at the national and international levels, prepared pursuant to resolution 2012/18;
1 - يحيط علما بتقرير المعهد الوطني للإحصاء والجغرافيا في المكسيك ومكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة عن خريطة طريق لتحسين نوعية الإحصاءات المتعلقة بالجريمة وزيادة توافرها على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي الذي أعد عملا بالقرار 2012/18()؛

The example from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI) shows that national statistical offices can have an important role in enhancing the national coherence of crime data, as it has taken an integral approach to the production of statistics on crime, both assuming the role of coordinator of the statistical activities of all Government agencies and increasing its role as direct producer of statistics.
