The 1997 Penal Code addressed violence against women in all its forms and included provisions relating to the protection of victims, witnesses and their families.
فالقانون الجنائي لعام 1997 عالج العنف الموجه ضد المرأة بجميع أشكاله وتضمن أحكاما تتعلق بحماية الضحايا، والشهود وأسرهم.

It ensured the presence of the Office during the investigation and provided recommendations which were shared with relevant high officials and included the protection of survivors, witnesses and their families, as well as the immediate implementation of a safeguard plan for threatened indigenous peoples.

(d) All the necessary measures should be taken to protect complainants, witnesses and their families from violence, threats of violence, arrest or prosecution, or any other form of intimidation;
)د( ينبغي اتخاذ جميع الاجراءات اللازمة لحماية مقدمي الشكاوى والشهود وأسرهم من العنف، أو التهديد بالعنف، أو التوقيف أو المحاكمة، أو أي شكل آخر من أشكال التخويف؛

The justice process and support services available to child victims and witnesses and their families should be sensitive to the child's age, wishes, understanding, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic, cultural, religious, linguistic and social background, caste, socio-economic condition and immigration or refugee status, as well as to the special needs of the child, including health, abilities and capacities.
16 - ينبغي أن تكون إجراءات العدالة وخدمات الدعم المتاحة للأطفال الضحايا والشهود وأسرهم مراعية لسن الطفل ورغباته ومدى فهمه وجنسانيته وميولـه الجنسية وخلفيته الإثنية والثقافية والدينية واللغوية والاجتماعية ووضعيته الطائفية وظروفه الاجتماعية-الاقتصادية وصفته كمهاجر أو لاجئ وكذلك لاحتياجات الطفل الخاصة، بما فيها صحته وإمكاناته وقدراته.

12. The ratification and effective implementation of all related international instruments and enhanced efforts to end impunity for violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, along with measures to support victims, witnesses and their families, remain essential to preventing and combating acts of hostage-taking in armed conflicts.
12 - ومن الأمور التي تظل تكتسي أهمية أساسية في منع ومكافحة أعمال أخذ الرهائن في النزاعات المسلحة التصديق على جميع الصكوك الدولية ذات الصلة وتنفيذها بفعالية وبذل جهود معززة لوضع حد للإفلات من العقاب على انتهاكات القانون الإنساني الدولي والقانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان، فضلا عن اتخاذ تدابير لدعم الضحايا والشهود وأسرهم.
