By its resolution 63/166 of 18 December 2008, the General Assembly decided to invite the Chairpersons of the Committee and the Subcommittee to address the Assembly at its sixty-fourth session under the sub-item entitled " Implementation of human rights instruments " .
وقررت الجمعية العامة بموجب قرارها 63/166 المؤرخ 18 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2008 أن تدعو رئيسي اللجنة واللجنة الفرعية إلى مخاطبة الجمعية العامة في دورتها الرابعة والستين في إطار البند الفرعي المعنون " تنفيذ الصكوك المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان " .

The view was expressed that in order to ensure safe, sustainable and secure space activities in the long term, there was a need to fill another legal lacuna in the international space law regime by paying particular attention in the Committee and the Subcommittee to the prevention of the arms race and deployment of any type of weapon in outer space as an important measure to conserve the peaceful use of outer space.
171- وأَعرب أحد الوفود عن رأي مفاده أنَّه بغية ضمان الاضطلاع بأنشطة فضائية آمنة ومستدامة ومأمونة في المدى البعيد، من الضروري القيام بسدِّ فجوة قانونية أخرى في نظام قانون الفضاء الدولي بتوجيه الانتباه على نحو مخصوص في اللجنة واللجنة الفرعية إلى منع سباق التسلُّح ونشر أيِّ أنواع من الأسلحة في الفضاء الخارجي كتدبير هام للحفاظ على الطابع السلمي لاستخدام الفضاء الخارجي.
