The second aspect concerns the indicator project initiated in 1998 in response to calls from United Nations bodies, such as the Executive Committee on Economic and Social Affairs, the ACC Subcommittee on Statistical Activities and the Economic and Social Council, for a more coordinated and integrated follow-up to the United Nations conferences.
