18. The UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference, which is planned for 2014 at the fourth special session of the CST, will look into the contribution of science, technology and traditional knowledge and practices to combating DLDD for poverty reduction and sustainable development.
18- وسينظر المؤتمر العلمي الثالث لاتفاقية مكافحة التصحر المقرر عقده عام 2014، خلال الدورة الاستثنائية الرابعة للجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا، في إسهام العلوم والتكنولوجيا والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية في مكافحة التصحر وتدهور الأراضي والجفاف من أجل الحد من الفقر والتنمية المستدامة.

It was informed by the information contained in annex I to the report of the SBSTA on its thirty-fourth session and subsequent views of Parties, and included indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation, and gender-sensitive tools and approaches as cross-cutting issues.

(أ) التقرير عن الاجتماع المتعلق بالأدوات المتاحة لاستخدام معارف الشعوب الأصلية وممارساتها والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية من أجل التكيف، واحتياجات المجتمعات المحلية والأصلية، وتطبيق النُّهُج والأدوات المراعية للمنظور الجنساني من أجل التكيف()؛

(a) Request the secretariat to organize the technical expert meeting on the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation in conjunction with the Adaptation Committee's workshop on best practices and needs of local and indigenous communities;
(أ) أن تطلب من الأمانة تنظيم اجتماع الخبراء التقنيين بشأن استخدام معارف وممارسات الشعوب الأصلية والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية بالتزامن مع حلقة العمل التي ستعقدها لجنة التكيف بشأن أفضل الممارسات لدى المجتمعات الأصلية والمحلية واحتياجات هذه المجتمعات؛

(a) The technical paper on best practices and available tools for the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation, and the application of gender-sensitive approaches and tools for understanding and assessing impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change;
(أ) الورقة التقنية المتعلقة بأفضل الممارسات والأدوات المتاحة لاستخدام معارف وممارسات الشعوب الأصلية والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية والنُّهج والأدوات المراعية للمنظور الجنساني، في فهم وتقييم تأثيرات تغير المناخ والقابلية للتأثر به والتكيف معه()؛

3(e) The Committee on Science and Technology (CST) advances knowledge on combating DLDD for poverty reduction and sustainable development, with an emphasis on the contribution of science, technology, and traditional knowledge and practices.

3(e) The CST advances knowledge on combating DLDD for poverty reduction and sustainable development, with an emphasis on the contribution of science, technology, and traditional knowledge and practices.

By the same decision, the COP indicated that the workshop will be informed by the information contained in annex I to the report of the SBSTA on its thirty-fourth session and subsequent views of Parties, and will include indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation and gender-sensitive tools and approaches as cross-cutting issues.

3- وأشار مؤتمر الأطراف إلى أن حلقة العمل ستستند إلى المعلومات الواردة في المرفق الأول من تقرير الهيئة الفرعية عن دورتها الرابعة والثلاثين() والآراء التي أبدتها الأطراف في وقت لاحق، وستشمل مسائل متعددة الجوانب، من بينها معارف وممارسات الشعوب الأصلية والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية في مجال التكيُّف، والأدوات والنُهُج المراعية للاعتبارات الجنسانية.

(a) To prepare a technical paper, before SBSTA 39, on best practices and available tools for the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation, and the application of gender-sensitive approaches and tools for understanding and assessing impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change;
(أ) إعداد ورقة تقنية، قبل الدورة التاسعة والثلاثين للهيئة الفرعية، بشأن أفضل الممارسات والأدوات المتاحة التي يمكن الاستفادة منها في استخدام معارف وممارسات الشعوب الأصلية والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية في مجال التكيف، وفي إعمال نُهج وأدوات تراعي المنظور الجنساني في فهم وتقييم تأثيرات تغير المناخ وقابلية التأثر به والتكيف معه؛

(b) To organize a technical expert meeting, before SBSTA 40 (June 2014), on the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation, and the application of gender-sensitive approaches and tools for understanding and assessing impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, taking into account the information contained in the technical paper referred to in paragraph 17(a) above.
(ب) تنظيم اجتماع تقني للخبراء، قبل الدورة الأربعين للهيئة الفرعية (حزيران/يونيه 2014)، لتناول موضوع استخدام معارف وممارسات الشعوب الأصلية والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية في جهود التكيف، وإعمال نُهُج وأدوات تراعي المنظور الجنساني في فهم وتقييم تأثيرات تغير المناخ والقابلية للتأثر به والتكيف معه، مع الأخذ بالمعلومات الواردة في الورقة التقنية المشار إليها في الفقرة 17(أ) أعلاه.

12. SBSTA 38 requested the secretariat to prepare a technical paper, before SBSTA 39, on best practices and available tools for the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation, and the application of gender-sensitive approaches and tools for understanding and assessing impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change.
12- وطلبت الهيئة الفرعية إلى الأمانة أن تعدّ ورقة تقنية، قبل الدورة التاسعة والثلاثين للهيئة الفرعية، بشأن أفضل الممارسات والأدوات المتاحة التي يمكن الاستفادة منها في استخدام معارف وممارسات الشعوب الأصلية والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية في مجال التكيف، وفي إعمال نُهج وأدوات تراعي المنظور الجنساني في فهم وتقييم تأثيرات تغير المناخ والقابلية للتأثر به والتكيف معه().

11. Furthermore, the AC organized a workshop on available tools for the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation, needs of local and indigenous communities, and the application of gender-sensitive approaches and tools for adaptation, in collaboration with the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change (NWP).

33. A joint meeting on available tools for the use of indigenous and traditional knowledge and practices for adaptation, needs of local and indigenous communities and the application of gender-sensitive approaches and tools for adaptation was organized by the Adaptation Committee and under the Nairobi work programme on impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change in Bonn from 1 to 4 April 2014.
٣٣- وفي إطار برنامج عمل نيروبي المتعلق بتأثيرات تغير المناخ والقابلية للتأثر به والتكيف معه، عقدت لجنة التكيف في بون، في الفترة من 1 إلى 4 نيسان/أبريل 2014، اجتماعاً مشتركاً بشأن الأدوات المتاحة لاستخدام معارف وممارسات الشعوب الأصلية والمعارف والممارسات التقليدية فيما يتعلق بالتكيف، واحتياجات المجتمعات المحلية والأصلية، وتطبيق نُهج وأدوات تكيف مراعية للمنظور الجنساني().
