At its fifty-fourth session, the Commission, in resolution 1998/77, requested the SecretaryGeneral to collect information from Governments, the specialized agencies and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations on recent developments in this field and to submit a report to the Commission at its fifty-sixth session.

2. In paragraph 8, the Commission requested the Secretary-General to submit to it, at its fifty-second session, a report containing the opinions of Governments, specialized agencies and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations on the issues raised in the report of the Sub-Commission's Special Rapporteur.

6. The present report includes comments and suggestions submitted by Member States, specialized agencies, and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations on ways to adapt and improve the relationships between the United Nations and non-governmental organizations.
